LEXUS DESIGN AWARD 2023 Winning Entries Unveiled
Lexus has recently announced the four winning entries of its 11th LEXUS DESIGN AWARD, the international design competition aimed at discovering and refining the capabilities of up-and-coming creators. The winners were selected from among 2,068 entries representing 63 countries by a three-judge panel featuring Paola Antonelli, Karim Rashid, and Simon Humphries, all of whom have achieved success in creative disciplines worldwide.

Lexus Design Award 2022 Reveals Six Finalists
Lexus has recently announced the six finalists for the tenth edition of the Lexus Design Award 2022, a global platform to support and nurture the next generation of up-and-coming creators from around the world. After the conclusion of the eighth and final round of Japan’s dramatic SUPER GT championship in Motegi, Lexus secures two podium finishes, winning the 2017 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series, with #37 KeePer TOM’S Lexus LC 500 crowned as overall champion of the 2017 season. Despite being new to the series this year, the Lexus LC 500 dominated the top GT500 class from the start, with the six entrants accumulating a total of 14 podium finishes, of which five were outright wins, while KeePer TOM’S’ total championship points reached 105.

The judges and mentors for the Lexus Design Award 2018 have been recently announced. Now in its sixth year, this prestigious international competition seeks to discover and nurture a new generation of talent. The event attracts thousands of aspiring creatives from around the world and inspires them to challenge common paradigms with unconventional design ideas to make our world better. Twelve winning finalists selected by an elite creative design panel of judges will have their concepts showcased at Lexus Design Event in Milan, 2018. An experience of a lifetime awaits four of these finalists, who will be mentored by some of the world’s top designers and architects. They will also receive funding (up to 3 million JPY or approximately $25,000) to bring their visions to life.
Fourth straight victory for Lexus in 2017 SUPER GT 500 series
Lexus stormed to its fourth consecutive victory in the 2017 AUTOBACS SUPER GT 500 series as the reigning champions Heikki Kovalainen and Kohei Hirate, in their No. 1 DENSO KOBELCO SARD LC 500, came from seventh position on the starting grid to take their maiden win of the season at the Sportsland SUGO circuit in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. The No. 6 WAKO’S 4CR LC 500, driven by Kazuya Oshima and Andrea Caldarelli, finished third in the race to consolidate Lexus’ runaway lead in the manufacturer’s standings.
Lexus LC 500 takes first two podium places in penultimate round of SUPER GT500 series
Giving it the upper hand in the 2017 AUTOBACS SUPER GT championship, Lexus landed a stunning pole-to-win victory, the fifth of the season, in the penultimate round of the SUPER GT500 series, held recently at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand. Driven by Ryo Hirakawa and Nick Cassidy, the #37 KeePer TOM’S LC 500 finished first, followed by the #6 WAKO’s 4CR LC 500 in second place. The Lexus team KeePer TOM’S now leads the Team Ranking of the series with 87 points, while Hirakawa and Cassidy lead the Driver Ranking with 69 points.
Lexus Short Film ‘Game’ wins the Bronze Lion in Cannes
Lexus and The Weinstein Company have announced that Jeannie Donohoe’s film Game has won a Bronze Entertainment Lion for Cinema and Theatrical Fiction Film at Cannes Lions. Game, about a young athlete who defies the odds to pursue a sports passion, was one of four films released this year as part of Season 3 of the Lexus Short Films series.
Lexus Short Films aims to engage with film enthusiasts and audiences to develop and nurture a new generation of emerging filmmakers. Lexus dominates Super GT500 podium at Fuji Speedway
Following its astonishing monopoly of the top six places in its race debut at Okayama, the Lexus GAZOO Racing LC 500 delivered yet another podium lock-out in the second round of the 2017 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series. A pole-to-flag victory for the #38 ZENT CERUMO LC 500 driven by Yuji Tachikawa and Hiroaki Ishiura gave the Lexus team a well-deserved win on Fuji Speedway – the spiritual home of Lexus high-performance models.
The #6 WAKO’S 4CR LC 500 and #37 KeePer TOM’S LC 500 took second and third place respectively to complete the second straight podium sweep for Lexus. More than 90,000 spectators packed the venue for this mid-week event, watching the 500-km endurance race unfold through high-speed, bumper-to-bumper racing and a minimum two-stop pit strategy.

Lexus GS F emerges as the people’s choice at 2017 Middle East Car of the Year Awards
Lexus continued its winning streak at the region’s biggest annual automotive awards program as its high-performance luxury sedan Lexus GS F took home the ‘Public Car of the Year’ award at the fourth edition of the Middle East Car of the Year (MECOTY) Awards. This award marks the third successive year that Lexus has been recognized at MECOTY.

Lexus and Toyota Top J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study for the Sixth Consecutive Time
Toyota Motor Corporation’s luxury brand, Lexus won the highest vehicle ranking in the 2017 J.D. Power U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS). VDS is a measure of the problems experienced after three years of ownership. The ranking results come at no surprise to consumers and automotive experts alike, as Lexus has completely dominated the chart for six years.
In addition to being recognized as the most dependable automotive brand, three of Lexus’ models were awarded within each segment, as follows:
• Lexus ES: the executive sedan topped the “Compact Premium Car Segment”
• Lexus GS: the sporty sedan was awarded the highest ranking within the “Midsize Premium Car Segment”
• Lexus RX: the iconic crossover was crowned the best “Midsize Premium SUV”
No. 39 Lexus RC F DENSO KOBELCO SARD clinches victory at final round of GT500 class race, wins 2016 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series
A strong and consistent run by the No. 39 Lexus RC F DENSO KOBELCO SARD, driven by Heikki Kovalainen and Kohei Hirate, in Round 8 of the 2016 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series kept the Lexus camp in the driver’s seat throughout the final leg of the GT500 class race. The final round was held at the Twin Ring Motegi in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, where other Lexus racers too put up a strong fight for the big prize.
Pole positions in the final race were dominated by Lexus cars as No. 6 LexusRC F WAKO’S 4CR and No. 19 Lexus RC F WedsSport ADVAN took the second and third spots. No. 36 LEXUS RC F au TOM’S and No. 37 Lexus RC F KeePer TOM’S battled fiercely to take the fourth and fifth positions.
Lexus Short Film Winner Jeannie Donohoe’s film premiered at the Napa Valley Film Festival
Lexus and The Weinstein Company premiered an exciting new film, Game, created and directed by the award-winning filmmaker Jeannie Donohoe, at the Napa Valley Film Festival. An alumna of Columbia University’s graduate film program, Donohoe has written and directed several short ﬁlms, including Lambing Season and Public. Donohoe is currently developing her ﬁrst feature-length ﬁlm, Flock.
The plot of Game involves a high school sophomore who relocates to a new high school and decides to try out for the reigning state champion boys’ basketball team. On the court, the player demonstrates extraordinary skill, worthy of making the roster. However, when the team discovers this student’s shocking secret, the storyline is taken to a whole new level. Game also features a performance by Canadian actor and three-time NBA champion Rick Fox.

Lexus and EuropaCorp Unveil 28th Century Spacecraft ‘SKYJET’ in Upcoming Sci-Fi Epic: ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’
An epic teaser trailer unveiled online recently (http://valerianmovie.com), giving fans a long-awaited first look at footage from the film. Viewers will also get a first glimpse of the SKYJET maneuvering through the intergalactic citadel of Alpha.
The Valerian team created the SKYJET with the ambition of featuring a vehicle grounded in reality but befitting of the Valerian world, set 700 years in the future. The creative team met with Lexus’ Chief Engineer, Takeaki Kato and the Lexus design team, to discuss incorporating believable, imaginative technologies and contemporary design cues into the final iteration of the SKYJET.

The WedsSportADVAN Lexus RC F driven by YuhiSekiguchi and Yuji Kunimoemergedvictorious in the GT500 race class after leading from start to finish in the seventh round of the 2016 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series, which took place recently at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand.Lexus RC F earned a second podium finish in the much-anticipated race of the season with the Wako’s 4CR Lexus RC F team comprising Kazuya Oshima and Andrea Caldarellisecuring third place.
Starting the race from pole position, WedsSportADVAN Lexus RC F put on a stupendous performance under bright and clear weather conditions to hold itslead all the way to the finish line, running virtually unchallenged to provide the team withits first victory in the GT500 class.For the Lexus RC F it was the second win of the season and second in a row following its victory in the last round at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan.
Sales Force Certified through Lexus E-Learning
BUMC s.a.l. is happy to announce that its entire sales team completed and passed the Lexus e-learning course on the new generation Lexus LX570. The exercises and quiz format designed by Toyota Motor Corporation ensured that the E-Learning process was not only informative, but also enriching through videos and rich graphics. The course covered the new generation LX570’s design concept, unique selling points, and its advantages over its competitors. The Lexus sales team all completed and passed the e-course with recognition from Toyota Motor Corporation.
The Lexus e-course experience further supplemented the intensive training done by the sales team in-house in order to serve our customers better through advanced product knowledge.
Lexus Short Film Winner Kev Cahill's Film to Premiere at Raindance Film Festival
Lexus and The Weinstein Company will be heading to Raindance Film Festival opening night to premiere an exciting new film The Nation Holds Its Breath, created and directed by Kev Cahill, an award-winning writer and director. Cahillcomes from a VFX background and is a front runner in this space – known for his dedicated work on popular films such as The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Thor: The Dark World and Alice Through the Looking Glass. Cahill has also contributed to the hit HBO television series Game of Thrones. This experience coupled with his directorial expertise, has launched his career not only within the digital industry but also the film and television industries overall.
The Nation Holds Its Breath is one of four films being produced by Joey Horvitz of The Weinstein Company as part of this third season of Lexus Short Films which is a partnership between Lexus International and The Weinstein Company to support up-and-coming filmmakers.
Lexus tastes success once again with second place finish for DENSO KOBELCO
RC F thereby making it a very successful race for Lexus with 4 positions in the top 5. The race took place recently at the Sportsland SUGO (Miyagi Prefecture) in Japan.
At the start of the race, the No. 6 WAKO'S 4CR RC F (Andrea Caldarelli) was in pole position. However, Andrea lost the lead when his car became involved in a collision in the sixth lap.By lap 16, the No. 38 ZENT CERUMO RC F moved into the lead, and approaching it from behind was the No. 39 DENSO KOBELCO SARD RC F (Heikki Kovalainen) that had been moving up steadily from its 8th-position grid start.However, the LexusRC F cars lost their grip on the lead soon afterwards.

Lexus and The Weinstein Company Premieres Winners of Lexus Short Films Series at Global Film Festivals
Lexus and The Weinstein Company recently premiered two short films selected from thousands of submissions at global film festivals,to kick off the third Lexus Short Films series, which is held this year under the theme ‘Anticipation’.
The first film to be premiered at Tokyo Short Shorts Film Festival was Alexis Michalik’s short film ‘Friday Night’. This film features a story about a mother named Claire who, while visiting her daughter studying in France, is thrown into the midst of a citywide attack. In a place where she does not speak the language or know her way around, she is forced to navigate in the dark of night in a desperate search to find her daughter and ensure her safety.
Lexus LC 500grabs Eyes On Design Awards at Fakio American International Auto Show
