SHIBETSU PROVING GROUNDS

The Shibetsu Proving Grounds located in northern Japan has three different tracks used to test several Lexus models, including the initial LS400, the LFA and other high-performance models. The track has long been a top-secret racetrack for Lexus, so much so that the veil of secrecy was mistaken for a fort by the Soviets in the eighties. The test track is hidden behind tall metal frames and heavy security—all designed to keep Lexus’ latest models confidential. The racetrack is perfect for Lexus testing as it features different twists and turns, road conditions and has both tree and building lined roads.

RACE READY

Ready, set, go! Lexus became both the first Japanese and Asian automotive brand to win a VLN Endurance Championship held at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with the Lexus RC F GT3 prototype in 2016. The RC F GT3 was the perfect blend of engineering from its front fenders designed to reduce dragging, a rear spoiler that boosts stability while raising speed across the tightest curves, and its thrilling engine that delivers 540 hp.
