Technology and new rival entrants from the information technology industry restructured the relatively dormant automotive industry and propelled it into a once-in-a-century transformation. Lexus is embracing this evolution and at every turn is pioneering the forefront of the future.
THE ROAD AHEAD
The science-fiction movies that feature the redundant self-piloted vehicles are rapidly becoming today’s present. Lexus is actively pursuing self-driving cars funneling investments to its research & development to garner advancements in robotics and AI technology. This new front will radically change the role of a driver forever. Lexus is exploring these advances and is actively re-envisioning the driving experience, in an effort to always create amazing.
Lexus Concept Cars are an emblem of the future, drawing on innovative technology. The LF-LC, UX Concept and even the Kinetic Seat Concept all represent the future of mobility and draw on daring ideas. Lexus designers are given the creative licensing for imaginative thinking, putting new materials to the test and technological innovations.
During the 2016 Paris Motor Show – the revolutionary Lexus Kinetic Seat Concept was unveiled and defined the car seat of the future. The seat is made out of fibers that are four times stronger than steel but meanwhile is more flexible than nylon. The car seat is created to react kinetically to the driver’s weight and movements allowing a comfortable driving position. Additionally, the seat is engineered to reduce unnecessary head movements and ensure a clear field of vision.
Furthermore, the seat has superior shock absorption thanks to its spider-web like threads (made out of a synthetic fiber called Qmonos). The fiber is made out of proteins and is strong enough to stop a jumbo plane from either landing or taking off to new horizons.
Lexus latest concept cars like the UX Concept and the LC-LF reinvigorate the instrument panel by integrating holograms. These holograms are an innovative way to display driving information and offer a new, futuristic way for drivers to interact with the vehicle. In the UX Concept, the interactive hologram globes displays the analogy and digital interaction. Holograms also house the air conditioning and infotainment system controls.
Technology is never too far off the horizon with Lexus. Actually, it can be found at your nearest Lexus Boutique. The Lexus flagship model, the Lexus LS has the latest advanced features like the Lexus Safety System+ adding new active safety features to help prevent collisions. Features such as Blind Sport Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert enhance and complement driver senses both intuitively and intelligently. Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert with Sway Alert and Dynamic Cruise Control have all been improved in the new generation.
